August 13th - Regular pigeon shoot

We have been attending a City Farm two or three times a week for the last month to bring down the numbers of pigeons that have decended onto the farm. Their numbers have increased substantially due to Covid.

The pigeons have figured out feeding times on the farm so during each feed, the pigeons swoop down and steal the food from the animals being fed. They have also nested inside some buildings and the public areas leaving droppings galore. The mess is horrendous and difficult to clean up for the staff.

We are restricted from where we can shoot from as there has to be a back drop to shoot against, so the pellet does not stray onto public land. We could take out many more pigeons but we can only shoot when the pigeons are in the right position. We average about seven each evening we attend.

This will go on for some time but you can see the dent we have made as between feeding times, they purch on a nearby roof of a house where now you can see the tiles of the roof but you couldnt on our first visit as there was so many.

Photo in the post are of the pigeons above one of the animal pens waiting for feeding time. We cannot shoot the birds on the apex of the building but only the ones at the lower level.
